Urk.

Uhhh... I need advice, if anyone has any. My MP3 player is very, very dead. We're not talking about a dead battery here, we're talking dropped dead mid-song and is now an inert piece of metal and very expensive circuitry. It wasn't dropped or shaken or anything, it was in a pocket at the time. I think it had about half battery strength, and now it won't turn on again, and the computer doesn't notice when I plug it in the USB port.
Sansa e260 and I hate to have to send it to the manufacturer when I've only had it since November and it was an Xmas present from my parents...

My brother and my mom both have Sansas. They are great little machines.

Maybe you could just tell your parents that you were thouroughly enjoying it sooo much...before it just died and you have to call and find out what's wrong with it. They may just be ok with that...may not...or you could just get the replacement and never tell them about it at all, just keep saying how great it is. :)

Bah, I'm just being wibbly, don't mind me. I have to say that the hassle of dealing with the company is a turnoff, and I'm guessing your brother and mom don't have any experience with that. I registered and sent a support request monday. Today I checked my inbox there again and had one new message- a survey to ask me how I'm enjoying my Sansa product. They haven't acknowledged my support request yet.

I can't say any of us have any experience with sansa tech support, but as many electronics as I have had to call warranty on, I know what being on hold is all about. The longest I have been on hold was for about 45 minutes, then they hung up and I had to call back and be another 27 minutes. Blech. That was memorex, but I think they have got better since I have had to call them, my sister had to call them once and got through in about ten minutes. Anyhow, good luck with it however you choose to go about it.
