Me again!

Lookit that, it's me posting again!
There is totally some meme in existence where you post song lyrics and then other people have to guess the song, right? There totally is. I know there is. I always suck at guessing when other people do it, and then people guess mine really easy but I am so totally going to do that anyway. Can I say totally again? I totally can.
These will probably be easily guessed, because they're lyrics that jump out at me in those songs, and then I'll be annoyed I'm so easy to guess. Again. They'll also reveal my taste in music is freaking old.

1. His hair was perfect
2. electric camel guitar
3. put your raygun to my head
4. bang bang on the door
5. vaccuum cleaner sucks up Benji! AwooooOWWW!
6. if you're Rin-Tintin or Anne Boelynn
7. It's only castles burning
8. We must try to shake it down, do our best to break the ground
9. Chestnut brown canary
10. ...a bottle and a cork, that's the way you spell New York.

Family memebers only allowed to post to tell me which ones they can't figure out.

Last night I wrote with a pen without having a giant rubbery grip made out of hairbands on it (don't laugh), so today I'm going to try drawing some. There's this whole extremely late comission... plus my creative output will never, ever be able to match the mass of ideas in my head. My drawing ideas do not go away until I draw them. They just don't. I have pictures composed in my head that have been hanging around since at least high school, still waiting to be drawn. No joke. In the meantime, I colored a couple Dirk pics somewhere in the midst of the Demon Hound chapter illos, and just got them uploaded yesterday. Dirk Gently lounging on a Nexus couch, and chatting with Fiver. His head is proportionately bigger in the Fiver one, and it makes him look more cartoony and marginally less overweight and just generally cuter. I think I prefer that. Note to self.
Okay, off to draw some, and muddle my way slowly through this artist's market guide.

Thank you very much, I now have that lunatic in my head, yelling, "I can't HEAR you! (Bang Baaaaaang!)"

I cannot tell you how reassuring that is. I have the exact same freaking problem with music. I have music composed in my head that have been hanging around for... well, a really startling amount of time. For lack of time to get stuff out of my head, I have the most tremendous backup in there. Very noisy.

Also, like you, haven't had any decent time to post in a while, though I also have a bit of a list of things to post lurking in my skull, too.

I really loved your clockmaker hare. Have you anything else along that line coming?

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahaha! I curse you! I'm sure you really needed that added to the general noise.

That... sounds scary, but it's probably as normal for you as it is for me to have the image pile up. I don't know that I've ever heard your music. I've come up with a couple tunes, but I think I've written about four songs total in my life.

People seem to like the steampunk anthro stuff, so I'll try to come up with more that style. Don't hold your breath though, since I have a small backlog to take care of first. One comission, one birthday art, one art meme... after that I can loosen up and do whatever, I guess. Of course, you're always welcome to ask for a specific comission, and that'd get bumped up the line...

[identity profile] peregrinejohn.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably exactly like the image pileup. I mean, it's not totally constant - right now what's playing in my head is some Supertramp song I don't know all the words to. Much more irritating than some original thing trying to sort itself out.

I'll see if I can drum up anything hearable (listenable? there must be a word for this) for you - though it'd help if there were a few to hear. I write for several styles.

My own curiosity can wait for your backlog to clear up a bit. Though this does remind me to ask: how much are your commissions, again? For something of about the complexity and size of the clockmaker hare, that is.

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the images are just sitting in memory and sometimes float up at me when I'm trying to get to sleep. Sometimes it's rehashing the details, but mostly it's just like looking through the catalog of waiting projects.

Audible? My tastes are pretty eclectic but I'm on dial up so the file format would matter... I can sing, but I don't think I'm much good at writing music, and I can't really play anything. I don't remember my piano lessons very well by this point.

There's some commission info here (http://reymonkey.deviantart.com/journal/19551551/) for your reference. I sold the hare for $30 although it wasn't a commission, just... you know, art to sell.

1) 'Werewolves of London' by Warren Zevon!

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Every time it plays on the radio, that line cracks me up for some reason.

1) I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's.... (I have a cover of Prince's "Raspberry Beret" by him, and Steve Winwood's "Back in the High Life Again", both of which are amusing.
4) Love Shack, Babay
10) I know it's InSoc, from HACK, but I don't have that track.

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Raspberry beret plays on the local radio station even more often than werewolves in London. I should've put something from that down too.
4. Why am I not surprised pretty much everyone gets this one?
10. OMG somebody else in the world listens to Information Society! It's 'a knife and a fork,' and it's recited in a disturbing little kid voice.

1. Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon
4. Tiiiiiiiiiiin roof! Rusted! (Loveshake by B-52s)
6. This is a Blues Traveler's song. The refrain is "The heart brings you pain" but I don't know what the title really is.

re: your other comment -- the needles for novocaine hurt a little. It feels like a pinch. Once the area is numb, you won't feel the drill at all. It'll sound awful, but it won't hurt, I promise. :)

[identity profile] peregrinejohn.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
6 - "Hook," a hilariously cynical song about song-writing/performing.

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to be big into acting, for years, so I appreciate it. ;)

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't know so many people were familiar with Werewolves of London.
See Pere's answer below, 6. is 'Hook'

I won't feel it, or I'll feel it but it won't hurt? My previous experience with that kind of thing was stitches, and it didn't hurt past the shot, but I could feel each and every move of the needle. Fortunately I don't mind needles, it's more the drilling in my skull that sounds awful. Like a tattoo needle on bone or something. Not that I've got any tattoos. Yet.

It'll just feel like a general pressure on your mouth, but it won't hurt. As long as they do it well. The last cavity I had filled took 15 minutes total, from novocaine injection to filled, and didn't hurt at all.

[identity profile] reymonkey.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well seeing as it's a dental student and a massive cavity, it might not be quite that quick. Pressure I can deal with. I know I'm probably disproportionately worried.

I'm also wondering if this is Cheryl or just somebody else who was logged out by accident. ;)

Nope

[identity profile] myfeeddogsaredown.blogspot.com (from livejournal.com) 2009-02-13 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't me (Cheryl). I also knew Werewolves of London and Love Shack. But that's it. I'm old, I guess.

Hunh, dunno who it was then. And most of these are old! But you're not. Anyway, there's some stuff in here that's my parent's type of music, and you weren't born yet then.
But maybe that's why you don't recognize it. ;)

But there's a Crosby Stills Nash & Young, and a Cat Stevens in that list.
