Dreams update

Okay, I said I'd update with art, but I'm too lazy and distracted to scan right now. Instead I was inspired by a weirdshit dream this morning to work on dream journal updates. I've been working hard on the dream journaling actually, writing up a lot of older dreams from my childhood that I still remember, scanning childhood dream illustrations. These are mostly more recent dreams, in the sense that they happened when I was basically an adult. Next dream update will be all childhood stuff.
First dream in the list, this morning's adventure. The thing that wacks me out about dreams is that I am a very creative person, I expose myself to all kinds of art from the fluffy to the morbidly bizarre, movies, illustrations, comics, books, museum art, etc. With all that I come up with, I could not make this shit up. I mean, seriously. WTF subconsious??

Okay, old and random and short: Strange neighborhood. I think I've had a lot of dreams where it's set in a familiar neighborhood only not quite right, and I think that's a common thing for all people. I do wonder why.

This was almost set in this empty lot of woods in our neighborhood: Alien mother.

I've made passing reference to the 'bad cats dreams' in the dream journal before, but I can't separate one from another well enough to describe them individually. Instead here is a detailed explanation.

On the more creative front, sometimes my dreams inspire characters. The Amoyé came to me in a dream, and to this day I have no idea why that name. If you don't know what I'm talking about, there are some sketches here and of the character inspired by it all, Melene. Here's the original dream.

And this one's a doozy, I posted this before but didn't link it and kept it friendslocked. Now I can't remember why, except that I'd like to illustrate it eventually. It's an amazing dream with some really interesting symbolism. Two white stags.

I like to share my subconscious.

Honey, could you call me please? It's kind of important.

Sorry I never saw this...
But for anyone who cares she totally called me and I brought her lunch and everything! So there!

Those were some really cool dreams. Except the recurring cats one. That one is scary.

I used to have a werecrocodile RP character. :) She was a lot pointier than Melene. I've toyed with bringing her into the Nexus, but I can't find a good PB of her.

I really should try to write down my dreams more. I had a dream this morning about Owen from Gargoyles, but I can't really remember it. You should play him more!

This is why I make an effort to record dreams in the first place. I'm sure the cats thing has to mean something important, I've been dreaming it off and on for about a decade or more, but I still have no idea what it means.

Melene is definitely not pointy, except inside the jaws. ;) I like curves. Melene is about 5'9" or so and close to 300 lbs. And she's a maneater. That's not a euphemism. She likes women and children though, in the conventional sense.

Owen! OMGness! If you remember it, write it out for me? I should play him, but I've been distracted and I'm not sure what to do with him. All my characters are neglected right now.

Have you ever RPed with her? My werecroc didn't eat people, but she didn't like men all that much. She was my first RP character, and she started off SO twinky and lame, but I managed to get her to a good point without having to retcon anything.

I wish I remembered. I don't think it was anything exciting. I had a character for Gargoyles once, but she was a total Mary Sue. But yes, you should play him! And bring Rat to Thanksgiving dinner! He can make Thorn and Irma feel more comfortable and he can say to Tom, "Hey, what's up?" and Tom can be like, "Wha? Do I know you?"

With the family I have a little, but never online. She lives in New Orleans, and she and her clan practice a form of voodoo, and she's got an accent. I'm scared that I don't have a good enough handle on the voodoo or the accent and if I play her online there'll be somebody laughing at me... ;)

There are a lot of Mary Sues in Garg fanstuff, but there's also a lot of actually pretty damn good Mary Sues. I don't know what it is about that fandom but it attracts some awfully good people as far as fanfic. Tara O'Shea for one, who actually is on LJ and stumbled across my Owen LJ and said Hi. She's not so much in the Garg fandom these days, but way back in the day, when I was in HS and probably so was she, I adored her Owencentric fanfic. It's got a blatant Mary Sue, who is original and interesting and her writing is so good that who cares?
Rat's entrance okay? ;) He'll semi-explain the suit, but it's basically he's been doing the business end of getting ready to drive a cab.

Accents are hard. When Shad said I could use Thorn in my little reunion story between Sarah and Tom, I was like, "Gaaaaaaah" because I freak out over trying to replicate his accent/stutter.

I used to read Gargoyles fanfic, and I think I know the authoer you're talking about. Was her OC a dark-haired fae woman who... I can't really remember, shows up and aggravates Owen but eventually they get together?

Rat's entrance was great! I'm enjoying the Thanksgiving post a ton. Tom is getting progressively more nervous.

Back when I played Tamh on IRC, I typed his Irish brogue and I knew what I was typing, but I was forever checking OOC to make sure other people could understand him. Accents are tricky to type. The stutter probably makes it worse. For the record, Shad sounds nothing like that, but I have no idea how to duplicate his accent.

Yup, that's her. Rowan... Fionnuala? I think? Anyways, it's damn good fanfic despite the classic Mary Sue ends up with the character the author fangirls. Tara O'Shea, Nancy Brown, and Melissa/Missy Merlin are the three big greats of Owen love, but I adore Christi Smith Haydn, for both fanfic and fanart. She's gone off into original characters that are so three dimensional and she just does wonderful stuff. Just not Owencentric.

Awww... Maybe Rat will play peacemaker, he does that well.

This is why I don't do accents. >_<

Yeah! I remember reading those fics in college. I was always disappointed with Owencentric fanfics because I wanted to see more Puck, but I guess that's the point if they're Owencentric. I don't mind Mary Sues so long as they don't break canon to insert themselves. That's probably why characters who don't have a love interest in the canon are so popular.

He's well on his way. :) How much did Schreber tell him about what happened with Tom?

I'm pretty good at them in person, but typing them is a whole 'nother thing. I can type the way I talk without much trouble, but I am apparently the least accented person in the world. Everywhere I go, the natives think I'm native. 'S true.

I like Owen and Puck both, but now that I'm older and rereading some of this stuff, I really like the idea that Puck's mischievous, cheerful demeanor might be more of a mask, and Owen is a way for him to stop trying so hard to play the jester, and show his deeper thoughts. Somebody who's lived that long isn't going to be all jokes and laughs, expecially while in exile and ultimately doomed to mortality.

We figured on the Doc having told Rat the basics, since it would have cut into their working together. Basically a 'hey this guy heard the truth and went a little nuts, and we've had to calm him down and I'm going to play with his memories at his request, but he'll still know the truth'. And later he'd tell him it was over and done, he's essentially Sarah's brother, and he's okay. Rat's just smart enough he might make the connection between that guy he met on the beach, because he noticed he was lurking a lot. He wouldn't be sure though, so seeing the same guy sitting at the table is still a little bit of a surprise.
