Notice to RP friends, there will probably be no RP from us tonight.

On the way back from picking Bridgie up from work we headed to the grocery store. It's been drizzling on and off all day so the roads are wet, and up on the bridge I came up on the line of people waiting for the red light, put on my brakes a nice reasonable distance away, and... didn't stop. At all. Until I hit the car at the back of the line. I don't know if pumping the brakes would have helped or not, it was a skid and the brakes just didn't do a damn thing. The older couple in front of us seemed okayish, but they took the woman to the hospital because her neck felt a little funny, and they don't mess around with that kind of thing. That car also bumped a third car in front of them, but our car is the only one that even has a scratch. The front left turn signal won't light up, we think it's probably just the bulb is broken, and the front bumper is just slightly cracked up/twisted. I didn't see a scratch on the other two cars, which is good. Between police and insurance and all we just got home a couple minutes ago. The cop couldn't even write me up for reckless driving, because I wasn't, so I got a ticket for 'Following too close' which is probably the nicest thing he could put on there.

Slightly shaken up. Haven't broken down yet. Didn't need this while jobless and just poured over a thousand dollars into car repair. Hopefully the insurance company won't tell us to junk it over minor fender damage.

We're going to just veg tonight.

I'm so sorry. You guys really didn't need this at all. :(

I'm following up to RP tags, but only because I don't want to forget. Take care of yourselves.

No, we didn't. The good news as of this morning is it sounds like we don't have to pay any funky insurance deductibles. There's just the ticket to worry about.

Insurance fun this morning, went to the fair, there will be lethargic catching up this afternoon and we'll see how this evening goes.

*HUGS* Thank you. It sounds like overall it's not going to be all that bad on the financial front, but it still feels like one more kick. To the car, specifically, since we just got it fixed...

You know, Courtneymun's dad offered me just that. ;) What I need most is a job, or for more people to buy my art, or both, but thanks for the thought. Next time I get a drink I'll pretend it's from you.

*Falls over from huggage* ;) We're basically okay, just slightly shaken and I'm going to have a mild guilt complex over it for a while. The ticket shouldn't be too bad, and the car has one turn signal where we think the bulb is broken. Overall we should come out of this okay.

I sent you an eml with the finished inks, to the addy you said to use until further notice? I'll start coloring tomorrow/this week.

I am really sorry to hear about that, I have been in a few accidents myself and know how very stressful, I was glad to hear that no one really got hurt and that you think the car might still be able to get you around. I have your address and mayabe I can swing something your way. I am very hopefull that things will get better for both you. I only wish there was more I coud do help you out. Give that critters a pet for me and spin squeeks as i know how much he likes that. Its times like this I wish I was rich and could help out my friends with things such as this.
Stay safe you two and rember you are in my heart of hearts and we will be keeping you there safe and sound.

I will play spin the cat just for you.
We had more phone calling this morning, and the estimator will be coming Tuesday, but it sounds like they probably will cover the repair since the damage is so minor. From what we were told this morning, it sounds like there's no funny deductibles or anything. We don't have collision you see, but apparently the comprehensive coverage will pay for the little stuff. Good news. We'll probably still have a slightly beat up fender for the rest of the life of the car, but that just adds character, right?
I know the feeling of wishing you were rich and could help out friends. I think most of the people we know struggle some financially too, and there's not a damn thing we can do to help. Around the time I lost my job, two other friends did too.

We went to the Fair this afternoon, although I think our enthusiasm was a little dampened. Still, the funtimes distraction is good.

So sorry

I don't know if you'll see this re or not, but... yeah. *HUGS* Thank you. At least the car still runs? Maybe if I can't find out what I want to know from calling about the ticket, I'll call you up and bug you for information...

Ugh, having brakes fail is one of the worst feelings in the world. I'm so glad it wasn't any more serious!

I've skidded before, but both times were in January, at odd hours of the morning when no one was around. I'm trying to look at it like you're gonna have a first accident sooner or later, and at least I got it out of the way and it wasn't a bad one. Still don't feel real great about the whole thing though.
