Saw Harry Potter on Saturday, and it was very cool. No real spoilers here but I will say that it felt very condensed. A lot of details got altered for the purpose of making the content fit well into the movie, and I think that those changes were well done. There's only so much you can cram into two hours and I think they managed to tailor what's a really thick book into a single movie in a way that was satisfying. There are some definite assumptions I see being made in the movies, all but the first, because they're counting on the viewers to have read the books. That doesn't really bother me, though.
Remember that contest I told you about, with Bridgie's doll? Well they effed up. Apparently one entry got left out of the voting or something, and we all need to vote again. Grr. Entry 18, right here.
Please to be voting for her please pretty please? We're a little annoyed about the whole thing being redone.
I didn't win the contest at work, but I didn't really expect to either. The woman who did win is much more experienced and her quilt was very cool. I voted for it myself.

In other news I've gotten some webpage work through Wendy, for a friend of hers. English isn't his first language, so we're struggling a little to communicate with each other, but I think we're managing. What really makes the job tricky is the html of the original page. Whoever set it up for him used MS Frontpage, and it's done exactly what I hate about web editing programs. There's all these redundant lines of garbage code that make it a mess from the scripting side of things. I do my web editing with notepad, and when I see the scripting tell every line of text what color to be, when it's all the same color, that drives me up the wall. Half the work is cleaning up the code. For those of you who don't know much about web editing, I can tell the pages were designed with Microsoft Frontpage because it also inserts little invisible lines of code to tell you what program and version of it the page was designed with. It's a kind of subtle advertising ploy. It's not working on me, because it makes me loathe the program instead of want to buy it. Fortunately what this guy wants is simple stuff. I should be working on the webpage now, though, instead of filling out a meme...
Stolen from Shiri, but going around:

1. What curse word do you use the most?
I have a tendency to make up curses with 'monkey' as a suffix. Crapmonkeys, f***monkeys, buttmonkeys...

2. Do you own an iPod?
Nope, and I wouldn't want one. I do have an MP3 player, a Sansa that has developed some odd problems I need to contact the manufacturer about, or maybe just put it back to factory settings and reload everything. I understand ipods are weirdly proprietary about file formats though.

3. What person on your flist do you talk to the most?
Who I live with... Because I live with them.

4. What time is your alarm clock set to?
7:00 ish I guess, for Bridgie. What it gets set to after that, if anyhing, is erratic because so is my work schedule.

5. Do you still remember the first person you kissed?
Err... does Nick when I was in 1st grade or so count? I didn't like it at all. He had greasy lips.

6. Do you remember where you were on 9/11/01?
I'd either called in sick or was going in late to my job at the video store. I turned on the TV, which I very rarely did, by sheer chance. It was on every channel, and had just happened. I called Bridgie, who was only getting bits of news at work where she had no TV or radio, and then Shad was... off to contact everybody back in New York. It was a weird day.

7. Would you rather take the picture or be in the picture?
I like taking pictures, but I don't mind being in them sometimes. No one else in the house likes their photo taken, including my cat. I sometimes ask to have photos taken of me in certain poses for drawing reference.

8. What was the last movie you watched?
We watched Jurassic Park last night at Bridgie's parents, but saw the latest Harry Potter one, on Saturday.

9. Do any of your friends have children?
...Yeah. And it's weird.

10. Has anyone ever called you lazy?
I don't think so.

11. Do you ever take medication to help you fall asleep?
Sometimes. I hate it because they either work into the next day so I'm non-functional, or don't work at all. Fortunately I only have insomnia in fits every couple months, instead of almost all the time like some people...

12. What cd is currently in your cd player?
Uhhh... It's got three slots and Bridgie was the last one to put stuff in there. Indigo Girls' 'Shaming of the Sun', some Dave Mathews band and Evanessence, I think.

13. Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk?
Chocolate, but I don't like milk much. I used to be allergic as a kid and after years and years of soy and gods know what else, it never tasted right again.

14. Has anyone told you a secret this week?
Not that I can think of...

15. When was the last time you had Starbucks?
*guilty look* Dunno. Month or two? I used to boycott them but sometimes I work Sundays and there's those bottled Starbuck's things next door at the drugstore and if i'm in a hurry they're my only coffee option.

16. Can you whistle?
Yeah, but I've never been as good at it as my dad. I tend to get airy on the low notes, which is kind of ironic considering my vocal range.

17. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
I don't even know. I have a pretty low libido when it comes down to it, and I spend a lot of time studying people's build for mental drawing reference.

18. What are you looking forward to?
Cooler weather? The next HP book? Visiting my parents this Christmas.

19. Did you watch cartoons as a child?
Oh hell yeah. I still do. Too many to name.

20. Do you own any band t-shirts?
Yeah, but I think just the Wylde Nept ones we bought on the Chicago trip with Wendy. I'm not big on the kind of bands that usually put out a lot of t-shirts.

21. What will you be doing in one hour?
I should eat something... Probably time wasting. There are plenty of things I should be doing.

22. Is anyone in love with you?
:) My pretty girl.

23. What was the last song you heard?
Some Seal music Shad was playing.

24. Last time you cried?
...Don't want to talk about it. I don't cry often, at all.

25. Are you on a desktop computer or a laptop?
Desktop. We're poor, geez, we can't afford a laptop in this house. I fricken' build our computers from spare parts and my dad's advice.

26. Are you currently wanting any piercings or tattoos?
I'd like a tattoo someday. I used to have plans to get an additional set of ear piercings, higher up in the cartilage. I've since decided it'd be too much of a bother. I wear the same small silver hoops pretty much all the time. And if pictures of me from different angles have ever confused anyone, yes, I do have three. I'm lopsided.

27. What’s the weather like?
A little too warm, but not horrible. We've had thunderstorms off and on the past couple weeks.

28. Would you ever date a girl/guy covered in tattoos?
If I wasn't with someone now? Sure. Whatever. I wouldn't be dating them for the tattoos, but if I like someone personality wise I really wouldn't give a shit about that.

29. What did you do before this?
Went for a walk. Slept.

30. When is the last time you slept on the floor?
A year or so ago when I was having weird back problems.

31. How many hours of sleep do you need to function?
Uhhh... If I need to function, I usually do. I can't do more than one day without any sleep at all now, though. I prefer 6 or 7 hours.

32. Do you eat breakfast daily?
Ahahahahahaha. No. What's that?

33. Are your days fast-paced?
Not really. They're erratically paced. I dunno.

34. What did you do last night?
Went to Bridgie's parents for dinner, worked on a piece of HP fanart while we watched Jurassic Park.

35. Do you use sarcasm?
Not as much as I used to.

36. How old will you be turning on your next birthday?
29 and I'm wondering if my parents will be bothered by it.

37. Are you picky about spelling and grammar?
My own, some. I've learned to keep my mouth shut about others' unless my opinion is asked for, but I do notice. I actually have some consistent spelling problems myself, and I know it. I'm also not realy picky about grammar on here, because it's informal writing. I'm more careful with RP.

38. Have you ever been to Six Flags?
Once, and it was disappointing.

39. Do you get along better with the same sex or the opposite sex?
Opposite. I've always fit in better as one of the guys.

40. Do you like mustard?
Yeah.

41. Do you sleep on your side?
A little... I toss and turn a lot, and sleep best on my front.

42. Do you watch the news?
Rarely. I know I'm uninformed, but it always looks so sensationalist and then Shad starts ranting...

43. How did you get one of your scars?
Uhhh... I don't have many. There's a little ding from hitting my forehead on the driveway as a kid, and one on my arm because I was born a mootant.

44. Who was the last person to make you mad?
Probably a bad driver? I don't remember.

45. Do you like anybody?
Lots of people!

46. What is the last thing you purchased?
Some papers and stickers for the massive family scrapbook project.

47. What side of the heart do you draw first?
I... don't draw hearts real often. The right side I think, starting at the bottom?

48. Can you dive without plugging your nose?
Hahahaha. No. I can't dive plugging it either, and it would be a stupid thing to do since I can't swim.

49. What colour is your razor?
Usually the pink plastic disposable kind. If this is asking something else then it's making a big assumption, plus I used to work for RS and heard the damn Razor commercials enough to loathe them.

50. What is your blood-type?
Red. I really don't know offhand. Something common, I think.

51. Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours?
Bridgie, because I could work with that pretty easy.

52. What is a rumour someone has spread about you?
Dunno. This kind of assumes I've found out about it.

53. How do you feel about carrots?
Like 'em fine. I used to really love them as a kid.

54. How many chairs at the dining room table?
The what? We got rid of that. The apartment's too small and we eat in the living room.

55. Which is the best Spice Girl?
The one that never was? I can't think of how to answer that otherwise.

56. Do you know what time it is?
Comp says 1:05 and I haven't made lunch.

57. Do you know all the words to the Fresh Prince Theme Song?
Ergh... no. I never did.

58. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator?
Thump around a little and look for a way to let people know I was inside. Wait. Hope I had drawing materials with me.

59. What’s your favourite kind of gum?
I don't like gum. I only chew it on airplanes to keep my ears from popping. I usually get watermelon.

60. T or F: All’s fair in love and war?
Fair is such a relative term. That always sounds like a trick question to me.

61. Do you have a crush on anyone?
Not really, unless you count Bridgie. That's more of a consumated relationship.

62. Do you know how to use some words correctly, but not know the meaning?
Probably, because it's easy to learn from context, but I try to remember to look them up whenever I think of it. That's what the dictionary is for.

63. Do you like to sleep?
In the mornings, yes. At night when I'm trying to get there it's a little harder. I like dreams, but I don't have those often enough.

64. Do you know which US states don’t use Daylight Savings Time?
I'm gonna guess AZ because of Shiri's answer, but... no, not really.

65. Do you know the song Total Eclipse of the Heart?
Oh gods... I wish I didn't.

66. Do you want a bright yellow ‘06 mustang?
Nah. My current car lust is for white Bentley's of the 1930's. I have very expensive tastes, I guess.

67. What’s something you’ve always wanted?
To reach other people.

68. Do you have hairy LEGS?
Heheh. Yep. I wear pants all the time anyway. I do shave them if I'm going to wear a dress or something, which is rarely.

69. Would you rather swim in the ocean or a lake?
I don't know how to swim, so definitely a lake. At least there's no undertow or waves or anything that way and I'll... uhh... drown slower.

70. Do you wear a lot of black?
Yeah, but it's just so easy and low maintenance.

71. Describe your hair:
Brown, short, in need of a haircut. It sits on my head. I don't ask a lot out of it except I wish it didn't grow so damn fast.

72. Do you have Entomophobia?
I would be going insane if I did. I live with millipedes in a tank in the house. No. Bugs are pretty cool, but I've developed kind of a fear of bees since I learned I'm becoming allergic.

73. Are you an adult?
Sure, just not a Grown-Up.

74. Where is/are your best friend(s)?
Live with 'em, but I have some good friends back in B'ham I miss.

75. Do you have a tan?
On my left arm mainly. Driver's tan. It's kind of obnoxious.

76. Are you a television addict?
That's that box we watch videos on... No. We don't even do the cable thing.

77. Do you enjoy spending time with your mother?
Uhh... More now that she's accross the country and I don't see her as often. We've just never had many shared interests.

78. Are you a sugar freak?
Maybe a little. I need to cut back on soda. I don't like really sweet things though, and I am in need of a dentist.

79. Do you like orange juice?
Once in a while, with a traditional type breakfast and coffee at a restaurant, or when I'm sick.

80. What sign are you?
On the cusp of Libra and Scorpio, but Libra fits me much, much better.

Now I will try to go do something more productive, like eat and work.
The end of last week I got hit with the worst period I've had in a while. I know guys don't need to hear this, but just deal. I skipped last month, so I knew this would be ugly, but it messed up my blood pressure so badly I had to skip a day of work because I just could not stand for more than ten minutes. It's been years since I came that close to passing out. I'm pretty much back to normal now, but it was obnoxious and I'm hoping it won't be a pattern for the next six months or something. It's kind of derailed my work on the webpage, as well as making me miss work at my day job. Sometimes being a chick sucks.
