Uhhh... I need advice, if anyone has any. My MP3 player is very, very dead. We're not talking about a dead battery here, we're talking dropped dead mid-song and is now an inert piece of metal and very expensive circuitry. It wasn't dropped or shaken or anything, it was in a pocket at the time. I think it had about half battery strength, and now it won't turn on again, and the computer doesn't notice when I plug it in the USB port.
Sansa e260 and I hate to have to send it to the manufacturer when I've only had it since November and it was an Xmas present from my parents...

Have you tried resetting it? My MP3 players (Creative Zens) freeze every once in a while. I stick a paper clip tip in the little hole, and presto, it resets, rebuilds the library, and I'm good to go.

There's no little hole to stick a paperclip into, unfortunately. It was an excellent thought though.

I assume you've done a web search. (I had an iPod, and a web search turned up all kinds of information. All of which, unfortunately, boiled down to "It's dead, return it to Apple.")
