Behind on life + Tumblr post copy
In other news, I really need to check this journal more often! Anyway, in a vague attempt to catch up, copy+paste from Tumblr post the other day...
The other day at work a woman walked in with this Native American Indian Dog, and I have to admit my first reaction was OMG he’s awesome! The owner just moved here from another state with this guy and his sister, and she took him to two other vets and a groomer (he has a thick undercoat that needs brushing out), and every one of them told her to go walk right back out again because that is a wolf hybrid and we are not touching it.
I grabbed the vet tech, and we both went into the lobby and spent a good fifteen minutes loving on him and taking photos. This dog was calm, well-behaved, friendly in a gentle way, and just the most amazing and gorgeous creature I’ve had the honor to meet. That’s the vet tech getting licked in the face. He didn’t actually need any medical treatment today, but I am so looking forward to seeing him and his sister next month when their vaccinations are apparently due. The doctor was out on an errand, but when she returned and we told her and showed her photos, she said we’d had a wolf hybrid patient back when she first opened the business, until it was lost to cancer, but it was a perfectly nice dog and she’s happy to treat any dog that’s not a biter.
Our most vicious patients, of course, tend to be under twenty pounds.
