Okay, so I've actually been back a couple of days, but life has been busy. Good things! I got the project doing the coloring book for the recycling company (That's CVWMA to you), so that's some financial help and portfolio help. I may be pretty vanished for a while, since I need to focus on that and Shiri's already overdue TF commission. Drastically different styles, so the one will give me a nice artistic break from the other.

Bridgie had her first class last night, which was apparently as dull as it gets (And on page 5 of your textbook it says...), but hurrah for ejamakayshun. The kitten is still adorable, and has learned to be a menace to Squeaks, and this morning knocked Shad's breakfast tea over while fleeing Squeaker's wrath for basically attacking her ass. *sigh*

Happy Birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] zora113 and [livejournal.com profile] motherdragon!

And now, because I love you all, although I mostly did it for my family:
Rey's adventures in MI by badly drawn cartoons. I was sleeping on grandma's couch, which means not sleeping much, and I had to have something brainless to draw late at night...

One of the big reasons for going to MI was to meet my dad's older brother, who I apparently met when I was two months old at their mother's funeral, but... yeah. He was interesting. If you add a beard he looks like a taller version of my dad, which is a little creepy, and their voices are really close. He's even a technogeek too. They came to my grandmother's condo, and I sat between him and his wife on the couch.

Then [livejournal.com profile] dragonwhishes and [livejournal.com profile] motherdragon whisked me away to Great Lakes Crossing, which is a hugeass shopping mall. I'm not big on shopping, but it was fun. Even this.

When I got back, I was treated to serious clothes shopping girl's day out fun-o-rama (If you like clothes shopping) with my mother and aunts. My Aunt Mary made sure we all had matching necklaces. It was scary. I'm a jeans and t-shirts from the guy's section kind of chick. My mother does not approve of this.

One evening my grandmother got out the photo albums, and there were some pictures we have duplicates of, stuff from when I was little. But then there was the section of black and white or sepia photos, my grandfather home at the farm on military leave, my grandmother looking like something out of the old movies, farm couples posing stiffly like American Gothic. Amazing stuff. I liked those best. She knew who everyone was of course. Please excuse my incredibly crappy recreations.

My parents are thinking of moving back to MI, someplace along Lake Huron. We spent a day looking for someplace my dad saw on the internet. Everyone in my family talks over each other all at once, rushing to get their own thoughts out on top of everyone else's because nobody is going to let anybody else get a word in edgewise. And they wonder why I was introverted as a kid.

My dad spent most of the vacation fiddling with both my aunt's computers, partly because they had these computerized embroidery machines to hook up to them that they couldn't get to work. We went to my Aunt Mary's house to work on hers, at about two in the afternoon. I guess I should've brought my drawing stuff. Eventually I went and crashed on their couch because they were still playing the instructional DVD at 1:30 in the morning. No lie.

And thoughts on the way home.

There may be a photo post later, if people want one.
