Ahahaha it is called Image>Adjust>Levels in photoshop. Trust me, big swathes of sharpie-colored black do not look that good in person. Plus I colored some of the detail areas with my biggest Pigma pen and that's darker so it gets all blotchy. This is totally the genius of scanning it in and putting it on the computer.
