:) Well, gifts are always better than run of the mill objects. Just realize that warranties are there for a reason and that's because it is a machine with moving parts inside and outside and anything with moving parts eventually will break down-some just faster than others. Obviously it was not able to take the abuse you gave it in it's short life (how dare you) hahahaha.
Really though, it's probably been defective all along, waiting for the perfect time to stop and cause problems. Just contact them and get a new one sent, I am sure your parents would rather you have a working item than a broken gift. :)
