Life goes on...
Aug. 19th, 2010 10:10 amSooo, trying to catch up on life a little. My grandmother is, against all odds, still with us. Two surgeries and a feeding tube later. The good news is that she's no longer in the hospital, but in some kind of temporary physical therapy type place connected with the hospital. The bad news is she has a carotid artery that's 100% blocked, which is something they can't do anything about. She's at pretty high risk for another stroke at any time.
But... I think I've started breathing again, a little. My brain, my life, has all felt like it was on hold for a while there. I keep being told to be ready at any time to drop everything and get on a plane at any time, but I just can't keep living jumping every time the phone rings. I'm trying to pull my brain back together, because the past few weeks I've only managed to get through the daily basics, and try to put on a bright face for the other things. The foster girl we've been mentoring had her 18th birthday and I didn't tell her about my grandmother because I didn't want to rain on her day, but I was pretty tense through the party. I can't remember if I've said or not, but Bridgie has also been completely out of medication through part of this, thanks to other people dragging their feet on paperwork. Fun times all around.
The better stuff: We've had this weird RP going in notebooks, kind of angsty and cathartic at points, but so fascinating it's spanned three notebooks already. I don't mean three wussy little notebooks, we're talking three notebooks each 3-subject 150 pages big thick type notebooks. It's a crossover, Balthazar Blake from the Sorcerer's Apprentice movie, and Connor MacLeod (mostly) from Highlander. It's... actually good writing, too. I'm tempted to type it up and edit it into fanfic for the lulz. RP probably doesn't make for great fanfic, but people do like reading that stuff, and... yeah. Who'd have thought those two could be buddies?
Slow on the art front, but I did a portrait for the foster girl's birthday, because she asked me to way back when she saw me working on Meph's last commission.
( cut for pretty picture )
I think that's all I've got for now, but I'll try to post coherently again, and more often.
