Random Rat arts
Aug. 31st, 2008 10:19 pmI try to sandwich some of my personal art in between the commissions. Got your eml Shiri, I'll work on cleaning up the sketch tomorrow for a final version. In the meantime, I just today finished something inspired by a depression-era painting I snagged from somewhere online months and months ago. My ideas never go away, you see. I get inspiration, a drawing forms in my mind, and then it lurks around my head until I draw it. No matter how long it takes. I was explaining this to Bridgie, how I have drawing ideas from early High School still just hanging out in my brain, fully formed, waiting until I have time and inclination to put them on paper. She said that explains a lot about me.
Aaanyway, here's Rat, not that you can tell it's actually him unless you notice the guitar neck, which is hard to see. This is also entirely in Crayola crayon. You can get some really amazing stuff out of crayon, it's an undervalued medium. Kind of grainy, but it worked well for this one.
After the Rain
Not titled after that Sting song Morri likes, even if Sting is very Dark City-esque. I wish I'd maed the background more greenish. I wonder if it's too late to fix that...
