Stuff and things!
Oct. 24th, 2007 10:15 amDreamed this morning that I woke to find the entire bathroom shin-deep with water. The bathroom itself was larger than it really is, and there was some kind of low vinyl wall that was an inexplicable part of the normal fixtures, but I guess in a way that was a good thing since it kept th water from spilling out through the rest of the apartment. With the bathroom being at the top of the stairs I can see so many ways it could have been worse.
So I was wading through this in sleep pants, getting soaked to the knees (The water was, of course, up to the very top of the vinyl wall. I'm sure you all want to be made aware that there were technical difficulties in doing what I came into the bathroom to do, since it risked soaking my underwear too because I'd have to pull things down. The tub was also full, but the toilet and sink drains seemed to be working and viable options to pour the water out through. For some reason I changed into my jeans, so that I could soak those too, and started bailing, the main part of the bathroom first of course. Eager to add a dose of waking reality to the dream, my brain had me grumbling about starting my birthday with a major plumbing disaster that getting fixed would likely tie up the rest of the day.
Then I realized how stupid all this was, and woke myself up.
The Quilt shop hop is over, but that event has basically been what's kept me from posting since the last time. I could give you numbers, like over 200 new customers in our database, which I managed to mostly keep entering as they came instead of it piling up. If I had any bitchy customers at all, they were insignificant enough that I don't remember them now. It was fun, I heard a lot of compliments that of all the shops they'd been to in the tour, ours was the best. A part of it is that evidently we gave away more stuff than anywhere else, but I don't think there were more than a couple people the whole time that left without buying something. We were never so utterly swamped that things felt strained, and a lot of people bought fabric yardage, which means we had the cutting tables well staffed. The bad part for me was mostly being tied to the register, because it meant standing mostly in one place.
Greyish day today, not sure yet how warm or cold out. I'm hoping it's a nicely cool fall kind of day, but I'm not holding my breath.
I mean to play Dirk today, damnit. He should ask another question while he's a ghost, and I really want him to reply to Mel's Nexus post. Mel, I'm proud of you. I know you don't do the Nexus thing much and posting there took courage. I'm sorry I wasn't around to reply last night.
I got the first pumpkin (man those things are expensive, no wonder we don't usually each do one...) and carved it right away last night. It's supposed to be Behemoth from the Nightmare before Christmas, but I'm not sure it reads that well. It does read as a guy with an axe in his head, and that's what counts, right?

In other news, the shift key keeps sticking on this keyboard. That's obnoxious...
And I have no idea what I'm doing for Hallowe'en, apart from working the closing shift. That's kind of depressing.
Still waiting on the new debit card from the bank, and it's hard to wrap my brain around needing to carry cash and operating on bank hours for it.
And wtf? Tarla, stop tormenting me! Thou foul temptress of ultimate dissatisfaction. If you're busy and away, what the hell are you making the toolbar flash for?!?!?
